How to apply The Last Coat 2.0 (TLC2) ceramic coating

A section-by-section application of the TLC2 spray ceramic coating, from a clean car to a cured finish.

Surface
Painted exterior
Time
A few minutes per section before buffing; keep dry about 24 h
Amount
A few drops on the applicator per section

You’ll need

  • The Last Coat 2.0
  • Microfiber applicator
  • Clean microfiber towels
  • 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for the final wipedown
  • Clay bar or mitt, if the paint is contaminated

Prep

  • Wash the car thoroughly and let it dry.
  • Decontaminate with a clay bar or mitt if the paint feels rough.
  • Inspect the paint and correct defects or scratches before applying the coating.
  • Work in the shade; avoid hot panels and direct sunlight.

Steps

  1. Shake the bottle well.
  2. Put a few drops on the applicator — a small amount for each section.
  3. Spread on one small section in straight lines for even coverage.
  4. Let it cure for a few minutes (depends on temperature and humidity).
  5. Buff off the residue with a clean microfiber towel until smooth and glossy.
  6. Repeat section by section around the car.
  7. Once fully applied, do an IPA wipedown with 70% isopropyl alcohol to remove remaining residue.

Common mistakes

  • Applying in direct sun or on a hot panel.
  • Using too much product per section.
  • Letting the car get wet before the ~24 h cure.
  • Coating over contamination or scratches you meant to fix.

Safety & care

  • Follow the instructions on the product label for application and cure times.
